Hey guys, so I have a problem. Granted it is an INCREDIBLY luxurious problem to have, but a problem none-the-less. The CCCManhattan has just added a 2009 GTR to the fleet. This would be an ultimate must-drive if the club hadn't also just added a 2015 Z06. I don't have the dough currently to add a single point more, and given the allotted points I have left, it seems as though I'm going to have to decide between the two, unless we get a dry, plus-40 degree day here in NYC by the end of February, which is looking doubtful at best. (Winter points are super cheap) So... WHAT IN THE HELL DO I DO?!!?!??!?!?!?!?!

flip a coin. if you don't like which side faces up, then go with the other car.

Which one would you like to be rattled to death in on NYC streets?
Considering the weather... GT-R.

Yeah I just interned there for a month, I haven't driven either, but...
take the Z06.

Personally I'd got for the Z06 cause RWD master race! But really I don't know both cars and fantastic. How does the points system for CCC work? The site doesn't go into much detail.

Easy. Z06. You're welcome.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

I'd go with the Z06 despite liking the GTR over Corvettes most of the time. It's just more awesome.

If the weather is correct and the break in miles are finished on the Z06, go for the Z06. You will not regret it.

Yea that's part of the issue. Even if I take the Z06 out during a 40+ degree day, I'm going to have to hold back quite a bit.
The roads aren't that rough considering my route, straight from the CCC onto the West side highway at Houston st, then across the GWB to the Palisades up to Hudson Valley.

Lol Z06 master race. Classic.
The club points are seasonally based, so you get more for a point in the winter and spring/fall than in summer. Weekdays are less than weekend days. That's why I think it really trumps all the exotic rental car companies.
Let's say you want the Ferrari 458 for a weekend in the Summer, that'll cost you about 520 points, which is more than I started with when I joined. 1 point = $10 - 12. If you want the same car for a weekend in the winter, it'll cost you half that. Fall/Spring is somewhere in between. Each car has a band, and that band goes up or down depending on the cost of the car. So the best deal you can get is taking out a Band 3 car (Bmw E30 M3, BMW 2002, Scion FR-S) which is the lowest, in the winter time. That'll only cost you 12 points for a weekday, and I think 72 points for the whole weekend.
You can book half weekends in the off seasons, but summer time is only open to full weekends. Reasoning being that there are around 300 - 400 some odd members so the big bookers take priority. Either way, even though I'm a "budget minded" member, I've never had much trouble booking cars.
There are monthly fees of about $180, and extra costs for going over an allotted daily mileage: 160 miles a day for the low band cars, 100 miles a day for high band for the weekdays, 300 miles for a weekend in a high band car, and 500 miles for a weekend in low band. Either way, the cost for me was about what you would expect to pay to lease a mini cooper or something along those lines.
Wow, I really dove into that one. I'm not on the payroll either, lol. Just a big fan, and if you're a car guy in New York, it's really a great option that's not as expensive as everyone says it is.

Meh, I drove it to get inspected (while under break in period). Can definitely tell the car is a monster, going to have to be very careful when driving it. Also feels like an incredibly capable car.

Z06. Having sat in both the GT-R and a 3LT C7, I think the Corvette is just a much nicer place to be than the GT-R.

You're probably right, but if it was about having a nice place to sit, I'd probably go with this:

It all adds up. The GT-R is an amazing machine, but I can't see myself ever connecting with it.
And RWD in cold, rainy weather with bunches of torque is not that big of a deal. Unless you are running near-slicks...

I'm pretty sure it's on Pilot super sport's, maybe even the sport cup 2's if they went for the Z07 package, which i'm not sure if they did.

I'm assuming that will be more winter capable. It was bought specifically with that purpose in mind. We can drive the more powerful, rwd cars in the winter as well, but they won't let you take it out if it's under 40 degrees, or if it's raining/snowing/etc.

Just a heads up: if the tires/streets aren't warm (70+ degrees outside), the tires will have a hard time hooking up when launching the GT-R. Traction control kicks in quickly, but it's scary to feel an AWD monster slide around when you slam the go pedal at a stand still.
